What Is Laser Therapy?
Laser therapy is a non-invasive treatment where a beam of laser light is directed into the tissue via a non-invasive handpiece. Laser therapy can help reduce pain and reduces inflammation. It is also successful in treating post-surgical pain and many acute and chronic conditions.
Our Doctor May Recommend Laser Therapy For The Following Conditions:
Chronic Conditions:
- Degenerative joint disease
- Arthritis
- Tendonitis
- Feline acne
- Skin conditions
- Inflammatory bowel disease
Acute Conditions:
- Wounds
- Allergies
- Infections
- Inflammation
- Sprains, strains, and fractures
- Post-surgical healing and pain relief
How Does It Work?
Laser light deeply penetrates tissue without damaging it. The energy from the laser causes a biological response in the cells called photo-bio -modulation. Bio-modulation leads to reduced pain and inflammation and increased healing speed.
What Does My Pet Experience?
Your pet and the technicians will wear goggles to protect their eyes from the intense light. The therapy feels to the pet like a gentle, soothing warmth. Many pets fall asleep during their treatment. The full effect of laser therapy to reduce pain usually takes 15 to 30 minutes after each session and effects are cumulative. Many pets receive more relief after each treatment until they reach a plateau.
